Once a little girl Kate and her brother Nick were at home and played with the toys. Wet snow and cold behind a window – a usual November weather, when it is nicer to sit in your own cosy room than to be outside.
Nick was playing with the toy pirates. They have just experienced a shipwreck after the storm. However they managed to survive and got on the fabulous island. Undoubtebly there were many adventures awaiting them ahead.
Kate was sitting behind the table and drawing a sunny fairy tale. She was imagining a summer, a lake and long walks outside. And all of this found its way onto her sheet of paper.
Just an amazing idyll. Here we could end up our fairy tale… If not the following happened.
Nick decided that a huge dangerous panther will attack the pirates going through the forest. He looked around: where to find such a panther?
On a sofa in the corner he has noticed Kates toy cat – a little black kitten. What a wonderful panther! Nick stood up and went towards the sofa.
Kate has noticed that Nick goes somewhere and started to watch him. Here he goes. Comes closer to the sofa. Takes a cat.
Wait a minute!
“This is my cat!”, – striked in her head. She forgot all her drawings and quicker than any panther rushed towards the sofa. She grabbed the cat out of the Nicks hands and screamed:
– Mine! – and run back to the table.
My friends, how do you think, what has Nick felt at this moment?
Probably he was really upset and hurt. But he could not do anything. The cat belonged Kate and therefore Nick just returned to his game. The only relief was that his pirates were lucky – no panther will attack them today.
Kate did feel a bit strange too. What do you think, what did she feel?
Soon Kate finished her drawing. She looked at it the last time, put it onto the shelf and ran to Nick – to play.
But Nick did not want to play with her. Kate haven’t even understood why at first. However she was a very clever girl, as you probably know. After some thought, she understood that he was offended at her. Here you go… What to do? What do you think, fellows?
Kate did exactly as you suggested. And already after a few minutes they played cheerfully with the Nicks pirates. The pirates were making their way again through the jungle of the island.
“Now the panther will attack them!” – decided Nick again and ran to get the toy cat.
Kate almost rushed after him screaming “Mine!”. However she resisted. “Let him take it, – she decided, – it’s fine”.
