The Little Snail In The Kindergarten

My daughter likes little snails. And of course she likes fairy tales about them. Therefore today I will tell one more about the little Snaily. As I have written before this fairy tale has actually helped us a lot with the kindergarten. About a month ago my daughter started to cry in the kindergarten. She didn’t want to do what she was told to and just wanted to do everything on her own. And this brought up some conflicts with the teachers there. Actually it was this fairy tale after which I have decided to write this blog – because already on the first day after telling it, my daughter felt herself much better and almost didn’t cry. Today I tell this story every time before we go to the kindergarten. Of course, the actual deep-inside problem might not be solved yet – who wants to go to the kindergarten in the end? However being there is much easier now.

Once upon a time there lived a little snail. Of course her name was Snaily and she had a snail-daddy, snail-mommy and a little snail brother – Cuty. They all lived happily together.

Little snails in the kindergarten 🙂

Our little snail went to the kindergarten. Every day. She liked it, was playing with other little snails and had a great time there. But sometimes she was forced to do something she really didn’t want to do. For example she had to go and eat with everybody, she needed to pick up the toys after playing and had to sleep when told so. And the little snail was often crying. She just didn’t want to do what she was told to.

Once the little Snaily couldn’t stand it and told everything to her dad. And then she asked: “Daddy, what should I do?”

After thinking for some time the snail-daddy answered: “My little Snaily, I understand that it is very hard for you. You don’t want to do what you are required to do. But try this – just relax. Do what they tell. If they tell to go outside – go for a walk. If they tell to go to sleep – just lay down and get asleep. If they tell you to pick up the toys – just pick them up. Just relax. You will see that it is much easier this way.

“Yes, but what if I don’t want to sleep or collect the toys?” – asked the little snail. “Just try it! You will see, that it is much easier!” – answered the snail-daddy.

“Ok, I will try” – said Snaily. And she actually tried to do just what she was told to. And you know what? In the evening when daddy came to pick her home the little snail said gladly: “Daddy! Daddy! It was so good here today!”

“That’s great!” – said snail-daddy and smiled.
